On a break

So you’ve started organizing your home, one area at a time. (Yay for you!!) Hopefully your process has included an assessment of your stuff to determine what you want to keep and what you want to donate.

Sometimes a decision about an item isn’t so cut and dry. You’re not sure if you want to keep it or if you’d rather let it go. You look at the item and think “maybe.”

Here’s a tip for those items you’re on the fence about. Grab a box, put your maybe items in the box, label the box with today’s date and tuck the box away in an out-of-the-way location. You and those items in the box are officially “on a break.”

Now fast forward two weeks, one month, three months, six months - whatever timeline your break needs to follow. If you haven’t pulled out a maybe from your maybe box, then let those maybes go. You don’t need or use them and they’re just taking up space. Instead, take the box straight to a donation center and never look back. You are officially broken up. Freedom!
