When embarking on an organizing project, it’s easy to become frozen by all of the decisions one needs to make and, as a result, lose momentum.
With each item, questions need to be addressed:
1) What is this item?
2) Is it useful and/or beautiful?
3) Do I want to keep, donate or trash it?
4) Where will this item live?
In order to keep moving forward, promise yourself a small reward at the end of the session.
For example, you may decide to sort and purge for one hour. Set your timer, and at the end of 60 minutes, be sure to acknowledge your achievements. If you’ve promised yourself 10 minutes to surf the web as a reward, be sure to take that much-deserved break.
