Sometimes people keep an item not because they love it or use it, but because they paid a lot of money for it. They may have bought the item in hopes of fitting an ideal or because they thought they loved it, and now they don't.
So they hold onto the item, which then serves as a reminder of the money they spent and the guilt they may feel because of it.
But why do that to yourself?
Instead, consider donating or consigning the item so someone else can enjoy and love it. After all, you cannot get that money back. You can, however, learn from the experience and hopefully make a different decision next time.
