Combating stress

Did you know November 5 was National Stress Awareness Day? Until today, I didn't know it either - but now we both do!

Here are some of my favorite tips for handling stress (excerpted from

  • Write your worries down in a journal.
  • Take a walk in green space.
  • Spend a few minutes focusing on your breath.
  • Let out a laugh.
  • Give someone a big hug.
  • Call your mom.
  • Try a little mindfulness meditation.
  • Unsubscribe from all of those promotional emails.
  • Have sex.
  • Think about something you're grateful for.
  • Forgive someone.
  • Exercise. Research shows it helps boost the body's ability to handle stress.
  • Take an email vacation.
  • Walk or bike to work.
  • Give acupuncture a try.
  • Flash a smile at someone.
  • Eat some dark chocolate.
  • Think positive thoughts.
  • De-clutter your home or your desk.
  • Become a morning person. (Or at least embrace the morning.)
  • Spend time with the person you're in love with.
  • Embrace aging.
  • Take a break from social media.
  • Close your eyes, even for just a few moments.
  • Give yourself some quiet time.
  • Do something nice for someone else.
  • Go for a run.
  • Count to 10, then count backward.

Taking time to de-stress really DOES help to make life more amazing and beautiful!
