From constant emails to social media alerts to television to traffic noise to coworker or family interruptions, daily distractions are abound! Whether at work or at home, our attention is pulled in many different directions and, as a result, we lose focus.
Never fear! The September 2014 issue of Entrepreneur offers some great tips to manage interruption that I thought were worth sharing:
- Check email at set times (two to four times per day is the most productive).
- Turn off browsers and social media.
- Meditate. Studies show Buddhist monks have powerful attention skills.
- Practice mindfulness.
- Try activities in which you focus on a target, such as learning a language or musical instrument.
These tips can be applied to your work and personal life, including each time you embark on an organizing project. When you focus, you can accomplish more in less time!
