Contrary to what you might think, I’m not a hard-line minimalist. I appreciate beautiful things as much as the next person.
What gets me, though, is when individuals say an item is important and/or meaningful to them, and yet it’s squashed in a drawer behind a two-year old issue of People magazine, old soy sauce packets and some stray Milk Duds.
If something is special, honor it. Place it on a shelf so you can see it every day. Hang it on the wall. Find a shadow box for it. Spotlight it. Something! Anything but shoving it in a drawer never to see the light of day again.
