Clients have asked me what they can do to get their significant other on board with organizing. I always tell them that if only one of them wants to get organized, I only work with the person who wants help getting organized. We don’t touch their significant other’s stuff. I’m very clear with my clients that I never MAKE anyone get rid of anything, and part of my job entails coming up with creative solutions for the stuff they have.
I’ve been working with a client on the closet she shares with her husband. Now that her husband has seen the beautiful results of our closet organization on his wife’s side, he’s decided he wants to work on his side of the closet too. Sometimes all it takes is seeing an organized space to recognize the value and benefit of putting in the time and effort to get organized.
